Aye, but Hebden Bridge is one of Yorkshires "nominated internment villages", designed to keep foreigners out of the rest of Yorkshire.
Many years ago it was decided that a number of such villages would be set up on the borders so that we could offer the "Yorkshire Experience" to outsiders without the dangers of allowing undesirables unfettered access to Gods Own County. To this end a number of volunteers act as "locals" and remain in the village for a short period on a rotating basis....they provide the local colour ( mainly by sneering at cummers in, overcharging in the shops, and making up incomprehensible dialect words ).
So far it's been a highly effective policy, although there are rumours that a couple of Lancastrians have managed to evade the ruling and have been allowed to co-habit with normal people....
