We have never paid more than £39 a night and often less, just got a quote of £131 for 3 nights in Twickenham so this may be a first, good value I feel if you book ahead.
Which is why I did the experiment before posting. Just checked another pair of hotels locally, and that's (for saturday night, as tonight was sold out at one of them) 104 (PI) and 72 (TL).
I don't doubt the Premier Inn is nicer, but in both instances the Travelodge is more in a better location.

Fascinating. My first test case above was Twickenham. If I was picking on location alone, I'd definitely go for Travelodge.
I spent 2 periods of 2 weeks in a Premier Inn outside Aberdeen. The food gets more than a little samey during that.
Bike in room - no problem, at least for the first period as it was a downstairs disabled room I was put in. Second period was upstairs and as far away from stairway as possible. Still, the bike made short work of the corridor
Prices in Premier Inns vary according to location, time of year and also what is on locally. We always used them for hospital visits and Glasgow's new superhospital uses them for patients who have to be in daily but do not necessarily need a hospital bed i.e. dialysis patients learning about the new home machines. Having a need for a disabled facility room for my wife I always found them very good tho' I was not paying the whole bill. In Aberdeen the price certainly varied according to location.
We use Premier Inn always when going to Edinburgh. No complaints from Mr and Mrs Postman. The Continental breakfast is superb value. One of the best was i Birmingham,Gas Street i think.Dining area overlooked the canal.
