Well currently my husband and daughter are trying to remove the stubborn rust
My 11year old daughter is keen to restore and keep it but my husband really wanted to sell it on but not knowing the identity and value I guess will be tricky

If you're going to restore it then you will have to break it down into its components. That might be tricky as the stem (the part that holds the handlebars and goes in the frame) will likely be seized and difficult to remove. The seatpost which also goes into the frame might be the same. A full restoration will be £2/300 or you could do an "oily rag" resto for a lot less, maybe half or less, but both will require the said strip down. Only you know if that's worth spending.
As for value it would be very little because of the state it's in and it's not a sought after type.
Have some look at this video about a similar restoration to see what's involved;
