... plan some revenge.

Where I live is lovely and peaceful but there is a problem family three doors down. Not enough of a problem to involve the police, environmental health etc but enough so that tranquil weekends are disturbed with three solid hours of 'thump, thump, thump' music even with the windows shut.

Today I was out washing my car to get away from the noise when an assortment of young adults started coming out of the house. I went up, said that it was starting to get on my nerves and asked politely if they could be more considerate. They politely agreed and I went back to washing my car.

Next thing the mother comes out, puts her face in mine and starts shouting that next time I had some complaining to do I should speak to her since she was the one who paid the bills and controlled her kids. I gleaned that her son was an adult so said I would continue to deal with him especially since her version of controlling her kids wasn't working.

The woman then berated me for cycling down the walkway that goes to the houses, saying I nearly ran her husband down once.

So, what revenge could I inflict? The best I can come up with so far is to deflate the rear tyre of the bike that is outside the house most of the time from time to time but I fear being spotted.

All suggestions gratefully received, to cheer me up if nothing else.

Or get a few ball bearings, suitable size, leave them under the bike & feign concern that you feel they may have come from the bike.

Are they home owners or renting?

If they rent from an organisation then get onto the landlords.

Don't get involved in revenge, they'll just drag you down to their level.

I think they are homeowners.

I probably won't do anything; it just cheers me up to think what I could do that would cause a nuisance eg looking for the cause of a non-existent puncture. The only problem with that is being sure no-one will come out when the revenge is being extracted.

You local council should have a 'noise' policy; I'd suggest you check there. A complaint or two, with noise prevention officers visiting, should help.

If the noise upsets other neighbours then a case to the council is stronger if it comes from more than one property.

My neighbours went down the official route some years ago when the children were younger. I think the problem has got better as the children have grown up; it's just it hasn't gone away and it is annoying when the music is coming from open windows at the back of the house where I spend most of my time eg living room, bedroom, on the computer.

I don't like music at the best of times and the bass note is starting to get to me.

You could try provoking her in a non aggressive manner.
You know the kind of thing, snidy comments when you pass one another, chat up her old man, tell her kids that you think their mum is a nobber, stuff like that.
From what you say it won't be very long before she comes around and clobbers you. Just make sure it's on cam.
Hey presto. GBH, ABH, at the very least common assault. Feds on your side and she's the baddie, you can sue for damages, and with a bit of luck she might end up in chokey.
Added to that the cam clip will make great viewing on YouTube.
Of course you might end up dead, or worse, in hospital, and of course the music might still be driving you nuts but at least you will have made your point.

Mow your lawn, then strim (?sp) the edges and finally cut the hedge, every morning after they have one of their late night sessions, and offer to do the neighbours gardens too - at about 7 am preferably .

Get two plastic five gallon buckets with handles, the kind they sell paint in. When you have had enough of the bass thumping, go stand outside their house and bang the buckets together as hard as you can. It also works well if you have a bunch of crows that decide to try and live in a tree on your property too. I solved a dog barking problem I had with a neighbor like this. I called once on the phone and it didn't work.

The buckets shut the dog up very quickly, it didn't know what to do and was very frightened, between that and me yelling "shut the F!!! up you stupid POS" and keeping my voice volume at a pretty high level when my neighbor came out to investigate what was going on, things worked out quite nicely. Well that and threatening to put a dog pen beside their house and start keeping hunting dogs in it for them to listen to when they are home. (my woods are a lot closer to their house than their yard it to my house) That threat came after I was informed by the neighbor that dogs could bark up until 11 pm.

The dog is now gone.
