My contract with BT is coming to an end this month and because it is fairly expensive, I am thinkink of switching to Plus net for half the price over 18 months.
Does anyone on here use them and how good are they for broadband in every room and customer service?

Your wifi is dependent upon the router, not plus net - be useful to find out which unit they provide and search for reviews. I think they are pretty good TBH (as in a service provider).

In case it factors in to your decision, PlusNet is run by BT. I can't say how good or bad their services are but I believe they have good customer service.

Give bt a ring and tell them you are thinking of leaving. I've just been given a new deal, new kit and better deals for my phones.

Good value and decent to deal with, in an industry not known for its public service.

your broadband speed is only as good as the open reach fibre service to your town / area which the majority of companies use and as above your router and any boosters dictate how that ges around your house

John Lewis use Plusnet, not sure how cheap they are, but they do have a UK call centre and seem efficient.
Unlike my experience with Talktalk; had problem where occasionally a caller could not hear me. Despite 3 visits from an "engineer" (don't get me started on the difference twixt an engineer a technician!) they couldn't find the fault. Changed to John Lewis - the fault disappeared.

I have been with Plusnet for a few years now, with fibre broadband and home phone. My 18 month contract is coming to an end soon. I have found their customer service to be very good, and they gave us a good incentive to renew our last 18 month contract with them which sadly they won't do this year. They seem very up front, and accept that they may not be the cheapest deal, but their plus point seems to be their customer service.

Having been with AOL (aka Talk Talk) for many years previously the difference in customer service is very apparent. You could be lucky, get a cheap deal with someone, and not need to use their customer service, but if you do, bear in mind what @T4tomo said, it's not an industry noted for its public service.

I haven't so far done the trawl of the comparison sites and "new customer" deals but from random inquiries it seems to me it's very much a lottery and it does seem with the proliferation of fibre broadband that prices are going up rather than down, so I might end up with Plusnet again just for the sake of a few pounds' difference and the hope that their customer service continues to be as good as it has been previously.

I get on fine with Plusnet. I spoke to staff at a UK call centre a couple of times and they were friendly and helpful.

They used to put the prices up by a few pounds a month at the end of the contract period without a reminder that they were doing so. I think that all companies have to give reminders now. Saying that I wanted to renew at the original price or I would leave was enough to get the old price back.

If you recommend other people to join quoting your user name when they sign up, you get a discount (currently £1.25/month) for as long as they remain Plusnet customers.

Been with them six or seven years and I'd say they're as good as any and better than many and cheaper than most if not all.

Personally I've found their support very flakey when I've needed it, with long waits for calls to be answered, calls disconnected immediately after answering, and the like. When you get to speak to someone they're invariably nice and helpful - but reaching them can be a challenge. The saving grace is, I've hardly needed them - the service has been very reliable.

They do try to up their prices when contracts renew, but they back down readily if challenged. Mine had crept up to £38/month, which I hadn't noticed because I'm terrible about such things, but when I protested they put it back down to £23.99 without a quibble.

Plusnet are a BT subsidiary.
I've been with Plusnet for abot 4 years now. Never any problem. No intention of leaving them. I used to be with BT, but their prices went through the ceiling - hence the move.

I’ve been with Plusnet since 2005 and their customer service is very good Their router isn’t as good and after having years of dropouts they couldn’t fix I bought a BT hub router of Ebay for £11 and the job was sorted.
However…
after all that I left them a few weeks ago. I handed my notice in to switch to 4G as my ADSL never gets above 7-8Mbs. They then tempted me back with £19/mth unlimited included line rental. I said OK I’ll stay with you but the guy failed to stop my cancellation. The line was cut off. With a load more sweeteners from them I agreed to stay and they would reconnect for free. This would be 16th November with a new number and lost my old username with email and web space.
The Smarty sim was beginning to be very laggy and GCN watching getting difficult so I tried an ASDA sim which uses Vodafone. WOW! 80 Mbs down and 30 up. Consequently I’ve cancelled my reconnection and Plusnet and I have finally parted.

I love Plusnet - been with them for years. Customer service is fantastic - real people that you can relate too - last time I spoke on someone was during the first lockdown so we chatted about working from home etc.

I've just renewed a contract. They said it would be £X for the same level of service, but when I OK'd it I actually got a better product ('cos fibre is now in the street) for the same £X.
