Ahh, I remember McDonald's breakfast. There was an art to the perfect scrambled egg. A favourite April Fools joke (for me at least) was to hard boil an egg or two when there was a newbie on eggs, then blame it on factory chickens.

Much as I hate to say it, @Markymark is correct. Perfectly shaped poached eggs are for sausage and egg McMuffins
Just get the pan water simmering, swirl it, drop the egg in the middle of the swirl. Do not allow water to boil. Done

Boiling but still water in a pan over a low flame (no swirling necessary)... works every time, but the eggs need to be a fresh as you can get 'em.

Low boil. Crack egg or eggs into water. Fold a piece of kitchen towel, one per egg, into four. When cooked remove egg with slotted spoon. Place cooked egg onto folded kitchen roll. When drained turn kitchen roll onto your toast. Eat. Enjoy.

Two at a time with swirling is ok. They do coalesce but you have to split them when they're done with whatever you get them out with (I'm a slotted spoon man myself). Don't look quite as good as singles but it's deffo doable

If your eggs are not perfectly fresh, crack them onto a slotted spoon so the watery gunk drains off. Then poach as normal.

Does anybody else's mother call an egg poached in water a 'coddled' egg?
