We have the Smith & Wesson MTBs, solid but slow! Kit is appalling with no prospect of it improving, wearing the standard issue body armour is particularly unpleasant.
I don't s'pose you know whether the Met is any different, do you?
The officers shown recently on that "Road Wars" thing on the BBC seemed to have a fair bit of bike specific kit (don't know whether it extended to body armour etc).
i once saw two cycle cops' bikes left unlocked outside a house on my street. was on the other side, or i would have had a nosey.
not a good example to set. and they had knobbly tyres, so i went through the whole "they'd never catch me" thing, although they could always call for backup i suppose.
