Hasn't prevented Nintendo's share price falling though.

Nintendo only own about 1/3 of Pokemon Go, they licensed it out to Niantic who will reap the biggest rewards. They're still better off than they were before the game launched.

Over the weekend I reckon I walked about 20km, saw a wide variety of people playing, had dinner with a group of strangers and caught 25 new beasties. It's a fun game that encourages exercise and interaction. Even better is that unlike so many mobile games these days it doesn't require you to spend outrageous sums of money to advance, the motivation is all on the player.

If only it were the kids playing it. The majority of the gorms I see playing it are middle-aged men...

So is a significant amount of computer gamers as they've grown up with computer games and to be honest most of these middle-age players were probably little the first time Pokemon phenomenon happened be it the cartoon, playing cards or gameboy game. What's wrong with a little nostalgia?

Spot on. I'm 30, which isn't quite middle age I suppose, but I'm probably bang on the demographic as Pokemon Red and Blue came out when I was 12.

Does it really take a computer game to get people to get out and walk in the countryside? Is that how dependent people have become on electronics?

I saw 2 guys in the park on bikes playing it and had to call out because they were heading at us and not looking where they were going. How long before we get our first Pokémon cycling fatality?

The Pokémon lawyers are queuing up as I type.

I am just happy that I am not into it. But if it floats your boat.

We walked from Hebden Bridge to Haworth on Saturday which required a lot of screen checking on the phone looking at the map, I did think I must look as if I was playing Pokemon. I would like to think the walk was more rewarding than playing a game, but if thats your thing I see no harm in combining the two.

We went out in the park tonight as it was a beautiful summers evening. There were lots of other people cycling around but at least 70% of them were cycling around with their faces stuck in their Garmins / mobile phones playing Strava Segment Go.
Couples both with Garmins / phones, not talking or enjoying the scenery, but playing Strava Segment Go. What a bunch of muppets

each to their own

Edit Ps - I caught '2 segments' last week

Judging by the obesity epidemic it's quite possible, so anything that gets extra people enjoying the outdoors is a good thing in my book.

I downloaded it played for a couple of hours to see what the fuss was about as I enjoyed the original gameboy game and then deleted it, not worth the battery drain of using GPS & mobile data in my opinion but I'm not going to mock those who do as I don't see anything wrong with it. Each to their own.

It's getting people out, that's not a bad thing

I like Pokemon Go. People are being run over while play, even shot and killed. Once all this dead wood is thinned out the species will be much stronger.

Here's an idea. Instead of moaning about how other people spend their time, why not get off the computer and do something productive for your community? Pick up some litter, ask a neighbour if they need anything from the shops, take some stuff to a charity shop.

I started this post while I was in bed this morning.

Yesterday I was helping on the beach with a group of Syrian refugee kids and this afternoon I am helping with a BBQ for the scouts. Last night before we went for our walk we sorted through all our old cycling parts, wheels, tool bags etc. We are on a busy cycling route and we are going to set up a table outside the house on Saturday with a sign encouraging the public to take the parts for free if they can use them.

I have just spent the last 2 hours cutting my grass and the pensioners grass next door and it is boiling out there.

Coffejo, I have no idea what makes you think I don't do things for my community. I posted a post about Pokemon Go. That's all.
