Please do not read any sarcasm into my comment.

I'd have no problem with what happened in that article. Recently had my bike nicked so anything that reduces the chances of a repeat occurence is welcome with me. As I've posted before - I've once ridden past a police car with a set of bolt croppers hanging on the bike - not an eyelid was batted.

I think it is fair enough - though I wish they would stop the ones riding expensive road bikes on the pavements - they are the ones that look dodgy to me - why buy an expensive bike and then bump it up and down kerbs etc unless you didn't buy it and don't understand it is meant to be ridden on the road!

(My bike obviously doesn't look expensive enough as they have never stopped me for not wearing lycra!)

No problem with this; good policing imo. At least they're bothering to check.

Seems OK to me too.

Veloprofiling......................the way forward.

The only snag I can see is when some chubby old git dressed in the full monty, team jersey, shorts, gloves helmet, shoes, socks, everything....................gets pulled over because he is riding a £99 clunker.
