How can I find out if there is a police bicycle auction near where I live . and what is the bidding process at them and are they worth a visit or are they just a waste of time
Any information either good or bad on police bicycle auctions please thank you
Googling "Police Auctions" will return a whole lot of results, but the majority of them are sites who want to charge you for the privilege of being sent PDF downloads and listings. To be fair, most auction sites work like this.
Police auctions are not run by the police, but are auctioneers who have a contract with the local property stores to offload unclaimed found and recovered property, usually on a monthly or two-monthly basis.
You could ring 101 and ask to be put through to the property stores at your nearest large police station. During office hours Monday to Friday. 8 til 4 you may be able to speak with the stores clerks who will tell you which auction house they use and how often they send stuff there to be auctioned. From there you will need to go to the auctioneer's site and do your own work on the listings, again, usually by paying a fee for the listings/newsletters etc.
