Really? Sounds more like a story from a boys own comic.
Sidewinder is an air to air missile that works on infrared signatures not radar. There was an anti-radar variant called 'SideArm', but it hasn't been around for decades.
The thought that a poxy little police radar would cause any confusion in an aircraft is quite funny. Why wouldn't the radar set in every fishing boat, airport, passenger aircraft also attract these automatic systems?
Finally, the Tornado is a two seat aircraft where the pilot would have no function in his situation. The Weapons Officer would deal with any perceived radar threat.
