Dinner is an evening meal but i do understand that up north you go to bed very early so you can dream about moving south .

In one of his book, the DJ/journalist, Stuart Maconie, wrote that a friend (or someone from the publishers - I forget which) invited him 'out for supper'
He wrote that such a thing conjured up images of sitting on their settee, in dressing gown & pyjamas, eating cheese and crackers, whilst watching the News At 10'

Nothing wrong with that although at my house you would get a can of stella , a donna kebab and cbeebies .
