Commuted for the first time today.

Eight miles each way, took 48 minutes out and 51 back (it's uphill on the way home) so I'm not breaking any records, but it was great fun - a gorgeous day, I am mostly on cycle paths or very quiet roads and I ride through the north Kent marshes so saw quite a bit of wildlife. Cuckoos, marsh frogs, five species of butterfly and a peregrine which made me a happy bunny. Don't see any of that on the motorcycle.

Things I learned; Close your mouth or eat your own body weight in insects. Bin lorries frighten me when they pass a bit close. I would have been faster on a hybrid instead of an MTB, but that'll change after a bit of rain. I'm a fool for not doing this years ago. I need padded shorts.

Snapped a couple of pics on the way home. I've had worse journeys to work.

Great work, those times will soon come down! I've taken to looking for alternate routes now to extend my time on the bike, it's a great way to explore the area around where you live.

I've taken cycling over the motorbike as favoured choice of transport at the moment too, it's great, you see so much more. I saw a buzzard take a baby rabbit at the side of the road the other day!
