700 x 42mm tires. What portable pump would you recommend?
I see similar questions have been asked on here, but I couldn't find any that specify for larger tires like mine.
All pumps I see recommended on here on other threads, appear to be for road bike tires, like Topeak Mini Morph Mini Floor Pump.

Also, I am looking at buying a Topeak JoeBlow Sport III Floor Pump. It is about £46 though atm there is 20% off when spending over £130 via Halfords.
Is it worth spending this much on a pump? If so why.

Please remember, I am looking to inflate hybrid bike tires, NOT road tires, so a high pressure pump, portable or track, is not needed, and correct me if I'm wrong, but pumps that specialise in certain tire widths, aka MTB and hybrid OR road, are better at their job?

Thanks

IME pumping up a tyre with any mini-pump is a miserable experience, but a mini track pump like the topeak is a good idea. The Joe Blow pumps are popular on here, but I've had a halfords bike-hut track pump for about 15 years and it works really well. Ideally you want a high volume low pressure pump for large tyres, although I suspect a lot of them like mine are a compromise.

Joe Blow will last you for many years and makes checking and inflating tyres a doddle. They work for both skinny and fat tyres.

For fixing flats on the road you can get lezyne pumps that strap underneath your water bottle cages. Get the longest one you can as it's easier.

I'd not use it to pump up tyres on a regular basis but will do in a pinch.

The Topeak can be got in 'mountain' flavour too - more capacity.

I have the Road Morph with gauge and a few Blackburn pumps. For my commute, I have this: - It's cheap, mini track pump, had a gauge, and it actually works very well - used it a few times on the commute.

I carry a Topeak mountain morph for large volume tyres on my mountain bike and hybrid which does a good job. I also carry a CO2 cartridge which helps a lot in reducing the pumping needed

It's just physics. Pressure = force / area so to get the higher pressures for narrower road tyres you need a smaller diameter piston which consequently pushes less air per stroke. So a road oriented mini pump will do the job but take a lot longer than one aimed at bigger tyres which will have a wider piston and will pump up a big tyre quicker, but won't be able to do the higher pressure. As pressure gets higher it will take too much force to push the piston in.
