Gosport is also good for parking, cheap.

Are you taking the Catamaran or the larger Wight Link ferry.

You can park in Gunwharf Quays for the day, but it will be top dollar.

That aside as stated Gunwharf Quays, safe as houses and a 2 minute cycle to your ferry.

Or park in Hamble for free and cycle the 14.9 extra miles to the ferry which may not be an attractive proposal!

Yes going to do the island loop, look forward to it, looked at some pics and it looks fab.

If anyone has any advice, places to stop, things to see, where to eat... i would be grateful

The A3055 Military Road, is a coastal road right at the bottom. It is magnificent. Take it from Freshwater to Niton.

Last time I took a ferry from Portsmouth I just parked up on a suburban road for 2 weeks.

That's what I would do. when I cycled from the train station to the Portsmouth harbour (10 mins ride) there were numerous residential streets on the way that would be perfect for parking.
