I've done this several times in the last 5 years. I've parked at the Harbour car park just off havant St v close to the ferry terminal. Last year was £8 for the day. I take the catamaran to Ryde pier which is fun to cycle on.
Now for the lap. I use some of the official cycle route. Be sure to go over the free chain ferry at Cowes. Yarmouth is a good place to stop for a break. Check the wind forecast to see whether clockwise or anticlockwise is best. The military road from Niton to freshwater is great for speed if the wind is behind you.
And be warned, it's very hilly! Lots of climbing. Enjoy!
