The last threat for NV55PVL was closed for X Y Z reasons. I have made this as i feel that it is necessary to update on what else happened.

I filled out a feedback form and put it under dissatisfactory service.

The station Sergeant rang me up. After a small string of emails as i had my phone turned off.
I had a long and extensive professional talk with the SGT. It was decided that what the officer did was wrong, whether this was giving wrong advise or saying it in the wrong way but he agreed with me on the fact the officer didn't deny what i had wrote. He said that being his superior he had made clear what was legal illegal and so on so fourth to the officer in question. It was he said she said but since he didn't deny the complaint he said that what i have said was favored. He said it was not the officers intention to come across as he did.

I said him that this was not a complaint about how the officer manged the driver rather how i was treated. He reassured me that he knew this and understands where im coming from.

We talked about the harassment situation, it was made clear to me it was not and would never in this case be considered as such. If i was to be arrested at that moment as claimed i would be interviewed at the station and once passed to superiors it would end there as it is not harassment. It is legal and reasonable to report the driver to police, company and upload to internet and the officer was wrong to say otherwise. Neither did i break any other law. In regards that the officer said i would be at fault of anything that happens to the driver. This was addressed that i was fine to report it to the company and any action they take is up to them... "if hes driving around on his phone texting or talking, gets caught resulting in repercussions that's life! He shouldn't be doing it".

I was also told about uploading videos and reporting at the same time. Don't upload straight to YouTube. Upload after the police take action as it affects its possibility being used in court as the defense could argue that he has been prejudged. It was also told what would be required to prosecute. Also he addressed the member of public comment.
I was informed they follow a set policy which dictates what can and cant be used which he said i wouldn't know about and that is true. He cut it short for me as he didn't want to bore me with it.
The video footage i had submitted in his view was more than enough to be taken to the cps and for them to prosecute as it showed clearly what happened. He made clear that the officer was wrong in saying that since it was reported by a member of the public it wouldn't lead to prosecution. The officer was either wrong on the matter or made it unclear what he meant. He suggested what he may mean is the uploaded to YouTube first which contaminates the evidence which could affect prosecution as in relation to the policy they have to follow.

The comment made about it being illegal to film people was addressed also. What the officer had said was wrong. It is not illegal to film in a public place as long as this is not resulting in other illegal activity's like taking pictures of women or children etc. He did tell me that people can become very hostile when they know they have been caught doing something wrong and it can lead into a more developed and serious situation, which is a correct and fair point.

The SGT made clear he was also a cyclist and a photographer and sympathized with me.

The situation has now been cleared up.
I now feel much better having talked with the Sergeant and he has reassured me.

tl;dr - everything is cleared up.

For future note, it's worth thinking about what you post here, many users don't agree with certain actions that others take and as such it's often not worth posting about the work you do regarding cycling on this forum. Generally posting about good results or really bad incidences is taken well, otherwise stuff gets out of hand as you saw.

Can I ask you one question?

Do you honestly believe it has been worth all the hassle and stress you have caused yourself and probably your family over what according to the law is a pretty minor offence?

It become no longer about the minor little offence. It was how i was treated due to X Y Z reasons. The fact is if he does it to me he will others. This is not acceptable and by having a superior talk to him this should stop and how he approaches another incident wont end up like it has now. Was it worth it?Yes! Nothing happens if you roll over.

Did you show the PC's line manager all the other video's on your YouTube channel to find out their reaction to those? Such as when you had 30 seconds to react to an approaching ambulance and stopped next to a speed bump and moaned about it, or when you nearly crashed into a car on a roundabout because you were going too fast? Doubt it.

If you are going to post videos of 'poor/dangerous driving' then you really need to ride in an exemplary manner yourself, unfortunately you don't, and that is probably one of the reasons why you get stick or abuse here or on YouTube.

TBH you say that the last thread was closed because of x,y and z but then you post this? Why??

  • Yes
  • Didn't excused the driver from using the other hump... he had also 30 seconds to make a decision.
  • Wasn't going fast, driver swapped lanes and late indication once she didn't take exit... i made a assumption which was wrong.
  • These videos were for education.... sure why cant i have a moan about it. They were uploaded to show the unpredictably and errors which can be made using roads. I uploaded it because them parts where poor. I learned from the errors made so why should i deny others the same opportunity.
  • I posted this for continuity, it was a development which was worth posted. I am not to be held responsible for others action on a topic which became highly diluted.

Without getting into tragic news you are posting about, I don't know the full story, the cps and courts could only prove what they found him guilty off.

Minor? 3 points and a £60 fine? It's more than you'd get for killing someone......

Glad you stuck to your guns and got a good result at the end of it despite all the naysayers.

To the naysayers:
Stick that in your pipe and smoke it. :girl:

Good work. The driver, being male, got the raging hump that he'd been caught on film being an ignorant, selfish and dangerous driver and threw his toys out of the pram. It was the driver that caused all this with his whining and snivelling "It's not fair!" What a gump. Fair play to the cops too, they admitted what that copper said was a load of old trousers.
