Paul is actually showing his knowledge of the clothing worn by Scott Of The Antarctic, although, I am pretty sure the gloves were also attatched to the front of thier jackets or whatever they were.
He is now off to fire up the old Primus Stove before going on a long rant about how awful Sastrugi is to travel over. It wouldn't be so bad, but he only came from the other room.
