The joys of old age. Here's my 20 something old female - as usual she's ignoring the warm bed, comfy sofa or soft blankets placed on the floor for her preferred bedding.

Although he's been dead for over 21 years, still miss this one (the dog, not the cow, though the cows were lovely too). And love this photo, as he was supremely confident & laid-back amongst cows (and yes, that's him licking one's nose), and they weren't scared of him (as you can tell!). I got him as a cow dog, to round up herds of cows when I was a relief milker, and he'd gently trot along at the back to bring them to the gate, with an occasional playful canter up to laggards, and gentle woofs (which could be varied depending on the willingness of the cow to move).

Some very sad news.
Had to let our wee 5 year old Ollie cat go yesterday.
Saddle thrombosis was the diagnosis and wee man didn’t stand a chance.
Blood clot that travels from the heart and paralyses back legs.
He fought so hard, amazed the vet by getting up and walking around so sent home for some nursing care.
All going well apart from not eating and his wee eyes were black as if he were gone.
Instinctively knew the outcome, said our goodbyes.
Back to vet on Monday morning, they were hopeful but he deteriorated in the afternoon, so let him go peacefully.
Wee Ollie cat invited himself into our lives in May 2024, just appeared in the garden and endeared himself to us.
What a wee mischievous character, brought so much entertainment and fun along with him and bossed the dog around.
Wil miss him so much.

And me too... I lost Madam Lexi last Tuesday. She deteriorated really rapidly within the space of a day and a bit, and passed away in her sleep the morning I was going to take her on her final journey to the vet. It's the first time I've been catless for almost 30 years, and I miss her like hell...

Yeah ain't it strange they go down so fast, we lost 3 this year one to cancer and the other 2 to old age. Scampering about one day then gone.

At least she's out of her pain. Which is a relief.

The lab results on the lumps the vet removed were that they were the most aggressive of all the cat cancers, and so we knew her time was limited. It bought her three months of good quality life by doing the surgery, but sadly the cancer had spread to her lungs and bladder.
