14 year old Thomas is in for the night.
Lost his two adored feline brothers this year but carries on (and puts up with the dog) šŸ’•

A visit to my canine therapist, the lovely Nora, and her mum and dad, last weekend. Lots of furtiveness (she'd seem to warm to me a bit, and then go shy again), but lovely to see them all. Cat ignored me (probably biding her time…). There was also a sign at a nearby house- I won't post the pic because I suspect it'd get deleted, but 'Sorry, Our Dog's a W*****r'. Didn't meet them, couldn't comment…

We're doggy-sitting Teddy the bonkers Cockerpoo for a couple of days...
He does like his comfort and cuddles šŸ˜‚

Our kitty Willow is the tabby and white, she does a bait and switch with next doors cat, she taps on the patio door to come in then when the door is opened she looks around the corner where Teddy is hiding so he appears like magic, jumps in followed by our cat, they then dine together - cats!

So, we decided that we have obviously too much time and money and not enough stress in our lives. We have now fixed that.

This is Mercury Rising, stable name ā€˜Freddie’. He is a 2 yo thoroughbred who was trained for racing but was not fast enough, so he went up for sale and my daughter bought him (well, we did until she pays us back!).

He is very well bred but clearly decided racing wasn’t for him so the daughter plans to turn him out until next year when she finishes college (studying Equine Management) and will start to retrain him as a general riding horse with a view to eventing him.

By the way, the ā€œtoo much moneyā€ line was a joke - the horse was pretty cheap and the field we are renting is also very reasonable so this isn’t posh person territory (as is the case with many horse owners). All he has to do for now is stand in a field and try not to hurt himself. Plenty of grass at the moment, supplemented with some hay and a little hard feed, so he doesn’t cost a lot to run either. That comes later, when he’s in a livery yard and competing. For now, while she is at college it’ll be me and Mrs figbat looking after him (I have over 40 years of experience - on and off - with horses).

The daughter has wanted a horse for years and this her first. He has the makings of a fantastic horse, so fingers crossed. šŸ¤ž
