On a semi-related point, I spent Friday night wandering around North London with two Spaniards and an Italian (we were looking for the same bus stop). I paid for the Italian's bus fare home because he had no money left on his Oyster. He offered me 20 euro to compensate. I turned him down because we were "paesani", but asked him to speak highly of my family's name whenever he heard it back in Italy.

I met Richard Stillgoe when he did a benefit gig for the school that I was at in Lingfield and presented him with a large coffee table which I had helped to make.

I was in a team of bath-pullers who broke the Guinness record for pulling a bath tub (86 miles in 24 hours) in 1976 from just outside Norwich to near Chelmsford.

I pulled for 16 hours and was totally knackered.

The record was verified by a marshall, but the recod wasn't amended in the book as 'we can't be expected to amend every record that gets broken'!
