I recently posted a parcel and was asked by the cashier "Is there anything electrical in here? Is it a bomb?"

Anyone else being asked dumb-ass questions like this or am I being paranoid?

Thanks

Recent changes in t&cs has seen a ban on the transportation of hazardous items, especially electrical items containing Li ion batteries.

I have been asked every time I've posted anything over the last month or so

I would say it would be interesting to see what happened if you said "yes, it's a bomb", but I'm afraid it wouldn't be much fun for you..

I usually just get asked about the value of the contents, which is normally minimal.

Mrs A's friend has a relation living in Germany to whom she just sent a Chrismas present of some toileteries. Now (in the last few days) she has been told the postal authorities have destroyed the package as it contained suspicious contents such as an aerosol. I resisted the urge to suggest that the authorities themselves had behaved like aerosols.

Must be new, I got asked it too. I only just suppressed, womens knickers, I'm sending them back because they don't fit me.

In fact I may be giving up on Royal Mail, it's becoming prohibitively expensive to post stuff with them.

the post office missed a trick at the turn of the century when Pay Pal was getting loads of bad press. The PO had everything in place to become the UK's premier online payment provider and would have been perfect for Ebay sellers, all postage and payments in one PO bank account, maybe with a small discount on postage costs... where did i put that time machine?

I was asked about batteries when I posted a small item to Germany a week ago.

"None," I said, then realised it was a lie because the item did contain a watch battery.

There's been no reports of a plane crash between here and the Fatherland so I think I've got away with it.
