Posting your CV online - what are the ethics?

Has anyone used those online facilities where you can post your CV for potential employers to look at? How ethical or otherwise is it for someone already in employment but looking for a move elsewhere to post their CV on such a site?

And for that matter, how do the sites work? Can anyone see your CV?

Only employers can see your CV, but that employer could be your company. I prefer to target companies, or put my trust in a recruiter that specialises in the field I work in.

I put mine up on jobsite yesterday, mainly out of curiosity.
They claim to email you with relevant jobs because you select which areas you're interested/have skills in.
I selected some fairly basic ones like retail and admin, and later in the day was emailed with a list of ridiculously high paying, impossible to get jobs requiring far more qualification/experience than I said I had.
So it might be a load of shite, we will see

That's interesting - jobsite is one of the ones I was thinking about...

I wouldn't worry about your current employer seeing your CV. Only Agencies use the online stuff and they have to pay in order to see your CV.
