A picture of you sitting on your bike would help a lot! As for Shimano brifters, be aware that some of the ones you are considering probably chew cables like no one's business (certainly my 6800 Ultegra ones did).

tiagra 4700 are from my limited experience better at shifting than the old 10 speed 105 but as mentioned above you need to keep on top of replacing the cables if you ride a lot as they suffer from the design fault that gradually chews the cable inside the shifter . I once left it a couple of years as its a summer only bike and it decided to break halfway around a sportive with no warning leaving me with effectively a single speed rear derailleur and another 40 odd mile to go .

Just out of interest, one of my bikes has those shifters (the long throw really suit my big hands so Ive stuck with them) and I was just curious as to what the cable gets in the way of for you?

Same here, I’ve got Dura Ace 7800 10 speed Brifters with the cables that exit out the side and they shift beautifully

Sensah groupset and then recoup your parts cost by selling the old one. I bet your only cost would be the installation cost.

Just here to mention that I have a pair of Sora brifters (9x2) for sale in the relevant area of CC. These are the ones with the cables under the bar tape.

Just here to mention that the OP seeks to replace their ST-4600 STIs which are 10sp.

I am thinking of swapping the bars . . . standard / stock PlanetX London Road set of handlebars (44 sized) . . . . with the longer stem and these bars the drops are too low for most of my riding. . . . I can cope with the current ride height on the hoods. I am wondering if my stem could do with being a little shorter. [its length] The number 70 comes to mind but I cannot be certain that is related to the stem.

With regard to bars/height, would be useful to know (notaguess or a cometomind) the length of the stem and the angle eg +/- 6 degrees.
How about these ST-5700s for £50 BIN??
