what kind of meetings do they have, "what can we fu*k up today now" in the minutes.

They probably have nothing on their minutes other than what type of biccys to buy so they had to think up something to put down :?:
This is because they subscribe to the idea that speed is the root cause of all accidents.

Even BRAKE set them straight.

Totally agree...speed isn't dangerous, it's using it in the wrong situation that makes it dangerous. 100mph on a motorway - generally pretty safe. 100mph past a school - about as clever as this pot hole idea!

the problem i have with it, (not read all the posts as real busy at work), but when cycling you have to swerve out the way of them as some are not obvisouly that deep until you get close. Now with MBs whizzing down the buss-lane, i nearly got wacked by one today, is that it may not be the whole which is dangerous, but causing cyclsts to avoid it quickly and being hit by some jerk on a bike

Seems like a decent reason for all the locals to rush out and buy a 4x4
"I need one because of the state of the roads"

Come to think of it though, some of the local roads are more full-susser than road bike. The 2007 floods and this winter effected some areas quite badly.

was having the same moan today with my cycling colleagues. i reckon this is Solihull Council's new policy! it's getting so bad around here that i'm now getting concerned about the amount i hit in my car! and i reckon that was what did my bike tyre in the other day.

i heard this through an interview on the radio this morning and couldnt quite believe it. The presenter stated that it would be the councils fault when cyclists and motor cyclists crashed due to hitting big pot holes in poor light. besides from this fact its just a way for the council to horde money. i fully believe road users in this area should be given a road tax rebait if road maintanance is abolished. i also feel that the person responsible for the suggestion should be should be fired for being an idiot (ah... how much better work would be if this was a sackable offense)

Quite agree... although my workplace would be pretty quiet if they sacked all the idiots...

For the parish council to suggest it might be considered a blip, for the county council to even entertain the idea suggests that they're a bunch of cretins.

You may be being a little unfair on the county council. I read "interesting idea" much the same way as Brake saying it's a "wholly original idea" e.g. "it's a bloody stupid idea but we can't say that to the press" and the "regretably in this instance" line as more of a

"Well yes of course we listen to what local people say. Please vote for us in this years elections."

Or not.
