Hello all,

I have an IP camera that I would like to use outside and I don't want to drill holes, chase cables and that sort of thing. Can I somehow connect a battery pack to it so that I can just power it with rechargeable batteries?

Its 5V 2A.

Thanks!

5V 2A is spot on for "USB power", so it's easy just use a USB battery bank :becool: (those things ppls carry around to juice up their handhelds on the go)

2Amp = 10Watt which is what an iPad expects.

Decent midsize unit today would have capacity around 10,000mAh (=10Ah) meaning it'll theoretically supply 2Amp current for 5hrs.

Don't count on using full rated capacity, so let's say it'll be good for "3hrs" of 2A current draw.

3hrs enough for your intended purpose?

Can you set up on a window sill?

My CCTV is inside but overlooks front door traffic and my work truck.
Thank you and this might work but I really need to be able to see all of the garden and I think that the window recess might get in the way.

This will be for our new house, not the one I am in now, so i will need to check it there. Thanks for the tip though and I will let you know.

Excellent stuff and this may well do the trick - thanks for taking the time to reply, its much appreciated.

One other question would be: will I be able to find a lead that goes from USB (power bank end) to the one that connects the camera (it's like a 4mm dia connector with a hole down the middle)? Can measure that properly if needed.

That Smarphone you no longer use or want. Take everything off and load Manything.
