I just chose 'never' then remembered that we did actually have one last year. That's the only one I can remember in 15 years though.

The last time we had a power cut was back in the early 80's I think, but a power cut round here is unheard of.

Had one a couple of years back, as I'm all electric it was a good excuse to have a takeaway dinner....

I do occasionally come home to find my bedside clock flashing, which means there's been a brief outage, but only the one that I've been home for.

Now, I have my Trangia, so at least I can make tea.

Can't remember the last time we had one at home, which is a bit of a shame as oddly enough I quite enjoy them. I like how everything goes silent - somehow with no background noise everything seems a lot more relaxed and less stressful.

We get 3-4 power cuts a year here, and this afternoon's has ruined my viewing of today's exciting stage of the TdF. FFS !!

What a shame! It was an excellent finish..

In France the problem is weather. Power lines traverse the wooded country side on little wooden poles which are fine till the trees overgrow them. Then in windy weather they get a battering. It is far less common than it was a few years ago.

WRT TV, our satellite is very low on the horizon and the signal has a lot of atmosphere to get through. Much rain and it can't make it! We shouldn't be watching anyway as we have only got a French TV licence in France.

Some oik nicked the cables a couple of years ago. We were powerless for 3 days!

but other than that no problems.

Here, none. In the Highlands of Scotland, so often that I can't remember the frequency.

Probably 50 Hz, like the rest of GB.

I used to love power cuts in the late 70's... dad getting the candle tin out and mum looking out the window to see if it's the whole street or just us (in retrospect... it was more than the whole street!). On the rare occasion I get one I get all excited, like being a kid again. sitting in candle light with only a battery operated radio for entertainment. The last one lasted about 45 mins, and I honestly thought "is that it? boring!" when the power came back.
