Power failure torch

As an aside, where you headed to Mr Regular?

Still need to be within sensible commuting distance to work for the next three years so limits range a bit. Moving out to the west of the main town in D&G to a mile outside a small village (population less than 200). Still close enough to a forest for a bit of running, trekking and mountain biking, and 7 miles from Castle Douglas for a bit of shopping when needed.

The current own uses What3words as part of his address 😂

At work we have a permanent light above the fire-exit that is permanently on and stays on for hours (built in batter) in the event of a power failure. There is no switch so it never goes off. It is bright enough to dimly light the whole room. Not what you're alluding to but it could be very useful in the event of an extended power failure.

It's all about maintained, non maintained and sustained lighting. Or something like that. All a lo easier and cheaper with LEDs and modern batteries.
Another of my beige cardigans.

Plan is to have something out in the hallway at the top, and bottom, of the stairs that will stay unlit until there is a power cut, then flash, or light but not at full power, so it can easily be found and turned up in intensity if required.

I ‘d rather not have something that lights like the midday sun at 2:30 am because the power has gone out.

I recommend a head torch so you have lighting where ever you choose to look ,your hands are free to work and no seeking of a stable resting place that puts the beam just where you need it :okay:
