Just home from the night shift and it's really chucking it down out there, going to be very dodgy for you guys this morning.
Take care and prepare to be soaked to the skin like I was.

First commute of the year though, finally got some miles on the board

It was wet, I was dry, and I went the long way round. Only found two bad potholes both next to each other.

Good to be back on the road bike, and I didn't forget to transfer stuff from rucksack to panniers, like office keys.........

I was delighted to see rain this morning: it is *so* much better than snow. Besides, there's no such thing as bad weather, there's just being badly dressed for the weather

Yep, worst commute I have done so far because for the last 6 months I have managed to avoid all but light showers. When I set off from Hazel Grove at 7am after my 12hr night shift it was chucking it down so I was soon soaked but thanks to my new mudguards only fitted yesterday my back remained relatively dry and my face wasn't soaked with dirty road water. The rain was just drizzle by the time I reached Ashton but the damage was done. Still, that's another 20+ miles on the clock for 2011.

It won't be long until we are cycling into the night shift on hot sunny nights, looking longingly at all the folk sat outside the pubs having a cool pint

I Cycled from Gatley to Withington this morning. Got very wet and went through some fantastic puddles. Socks now drying on radiator for return journey. Still enjoyed it more then being in the car though!

Welcome by the way Gatley lass, I cycle thru Gatley everyday on route to Bredbury so maybe we have passed each other?
4 weeks off the bike and a bit of Christmas pork meant it was a slowish ride yesterday but I really enjoyed it

I like the point where you get so wet that you just don't care......better in summer though for that sort of thing !

I was at that point after 2 miles Skud

though I did get a bit cold later and it stopped being quite so much 'fun'
Was dry when I left for work so didn't have the right clothing with me really, except overshoes.

Thanks Potsy.
Where and when do you cycle through Gatley. I'll watch out for you. I do regulalrly pass a few cyclists and we either smile or grimace at one another ( weather dependant ).
I'm usually cycling slowly in a high vis vest and usullly red in the face.

I saw a few hardy fools cycle commuters this morning as I normally do and I always wonder if any of them are members off cyclechat? Could do with a CC flag or secret wave or something......

I cycle down the A560 but at silly times of the day due to my shift work, so it's either 5am, 1pm, going to work.
2.30pm or 10.30pm coming home.
I see very few female cyclists on my commute. but have a nodding relationship with a few guys that I see regularly.
Usually in a yellow jacket, black tights and black helmet riding a white 'racer'

I have been known to be a bit red in the face too, especially when I've not cycled in for a few weeks
