Am I right in thinking the driver behind this is the possibility of technology hacking, therefore shutting down either supply chains, electricity etc etc.?
Must admit, if you consider.loss of power and its effect on availability of food (or anything else for that matter). being an issue, having cash on hand (literally in your hand, definately not in an ATM)) would therefor be prudent surely ?
And then, do you go buy a small generator to give yourself some basic power for essentials ?
The list goes on and on...

I'm pretty sure that are managed online by the manufacturer not the stores., The UK don't seem to have this set up that they have in Europe.

We do, it seems...

Whoever is doing this has muffed up. Theyve hit some fridges at US bases, which means the US DoD are on the case and they are not people you foxtrot with lightly.

If its an individual or a group of individuals (as opposed to a rogue state such as North Korea) with DoD resources and tech they will be found, and they are very likely to have some large gentlemen pay a visit. Next thing they know they'll awaken to find themselves naked and tied to a chair with a bag on their head. In Guantanamo no one can hear you scream. It is not going to end well for them.

No, you need the straws that hikers use to drink from steams and ponds etc incase those run out.

Mmmmn. The ‘life-straw’ or similar do not remove a poison or virus from the water, and can you get up again after lying down next to a stream to drink from it?
Filter water through cloth to remove bits, stand it in a clear bottle for a few hours in daylight, and UV will do the job for you. Not sure about degrading any poison, but one up on the alternative.

I read that yesterday, but still no where near the scale of Europe.

I wonder if all this means the bubble will burst over the obsession that everything has to be connected to the internet. We have a tumble dryer which has the option to be connected to WiFi, needless to say I haven’t bothered.

Yeah - keep it away from those ‘fluff & lint’ porn sites.
