Whilst I wouldn't have been phased by that pass, I wouldn't say the intention of what Mags is doing is wrong, I think bringing bad driving to people's awareness is a necessary thing to be doing. I do think that sometimes it can get a bit officious and nit-pick-y, but as I said, the intention is good, methods may need work.

I agree with you - although I always pressume there loads of other stuff that he's edited out as not necessary. But the intention is good!

See it from youtube's point of view - they don't want to go through the whole business of having to deal with expensive legal issues. You wouldn't either, if you were youtube.

D4VOW is wrong on the closeness of that pass. It's far from the closest pass, but it is well inside my tolerance for acceptable. I'd certainly have beeped and made a pushing out to the right motion for that pass. It's easy for those not so experienced with camera angles to misjudge how close a particular pass is. It's one reason I keep meaning to do a distance and width calibration image for my camera setup.

Youtube has been quite irresponsible with regards removing content of late. I know of a couple of scientific debunkers that have had their channels removed because they dared to question climate science, religeon or evolution.

Its slowly starting to happen to the cyclists too it seems - Sharky has had a couple of nobends moan about privacy too it seems.

I would be inclined to fight this (state to youtube who they can contact for legal information - eg the commissioner), if they STILL remove the video or give you no ability to appeal then the video can be mirrored and can go viral

This is a common tactic that works well

Don't have any idea's where to put your vids - maybe you and young THOMAS + any other vid posters could get together

Young Thomas ...hehehe....am I the youngest helmet camera?

I'm still waiting for someone to find themselves in a video and ask for it to be removed.

We use hostmonster.com at work, unlimited bandwidth!

Unlimited bandwidth doesn't exist and I would be weary of any service which offers it. I think the problem with self hosting is that people will be less likely to find them and some of the smaller video hosting sites will have the same drawback.

Actually Mags, given the muting of the sound and the blurring of the associate I would say you've gone WELL out of your way to protect their identity.

Don't take offence THOMAS - I've watched a few of your vids, posts and would class you as young compared to the average poster on here(I could be wrong - maybe its subconsciously the TANK ENGINE avatar). The comments not based on experience / intelligence - in a group of my similarly aged friends in Scotland you would be called WEEMAN and it'd have nothing to do with height / width.

On one of your vids(about the MUVI) somebody takes the camera for a spin on a Vespa T5 - is that you, it was very sensibly driven?
I'm glad MUVI's / YouTube weren't around when I had a heavily tuned T5 in the late 80's - as with my driving style(Moto GP) / immortal beliefs at 18  - it would've been used in a court against me! With Bitubo gas shox / race slicks(imported from Japanese MiniMoto)/MICKECK(hand made motocrosser)exhaust / race ported engine, uprated carb, crank and flywheel - I did 90 everywhere!

Anyway we were all young once - and not all as sensible as you THOMAS.

haha, I wasn't offended...and yes I am young compared to the average member...especially those with helmet cameras on youtube

Not my video btw! Only ridden a bike once , Pillion another time (there is a video of that) and that was in Vietnam  (seemed like the perfect place to learn ). I'd like to get a motorcycle licence, but it isn't high on my priorities atm.

Glad your not offended.

Had my full bike licence since 18, 4 years before my car licence - would recommend it.

All the best to you in the New Year when it comes, by the way!

They have given me 48 hours to edit the video (remove his face etc) or to remove it. If not I assume they will.

Herein lies the answer.. remove the section of video and replace it with a short text explanation and soundtrack.

...and at the same time, send the undoctored clip to the bloke's employer. Someone willing to shout that at a cyclist from a completely unremoved position would not be able to separate his driving from the stinking attitude.

Exactly, if he works for First as Mag's suggested, they won't tolerate that behaviour when he's on duty(in uniform). They don't accept road rage incidents either.

The downside is that to do that is to give in to common sense and concede that you've done something wrong. ;) Which he hasnt.

Had the guy on the pavement just kept his mouth shut and not put his blimmin great foot in it he wouldnt be in that situation. It'd be like me going into a corner shop and holding the place up, getting caught on CCTV and claming entrapment due to all the quality goods and the till on full display:laugh:

Perhaps the individual concerned does not want his employer to see it (maybe one of his colleagues has and has pointed out that he appears to be a bit of an @rse, and that he could be in soapy) and this has prompted his action.
I suggest you:

Remove your clip.
Edit it, with a brief note that an employee of a bus company who was passing decided to join in with verbal abuse, but it has been removed at youtubes request.
Re-post it.
Send the original to First and make a formal complaint.

Maggers is quality goods, after all ;)

I think that BM's got a point about the Youtube's attitude. It's not that the video is illegal, wrong or f***ed up, its just that they've received a complaint and the line of least resistance is to tell you to remove it. Their business model simply doesn't see any benefit in behaving otherwise.

It DOES annoy me that their moderation is so limited and doesn't seem to apply at all to the behaviour of members in the comments section. For example this one from TheRotHound….

"OK. SORRY. What a defensive old slag you are. **** off, open your eyes, see the various horrors of "reality" and appreciate what you actually have. If you look at the world, you'll see just how truly pathetic your cause is. You could maybe try to actually help someone or something worthy and feel a bit better about yourself and end the miltant "Bikers Rights" and "I'm a woman, women cycle too" claptrap. **** off and i hope you end up under the wheels of a 7.5 tonner. I truly do."

Nice. No need for youtube to moderate that, or perhaps close TheRotHound's account.

Youtube is a cesspit website with a lot of turds bobbing up and down on the surface. If there's a new and concerted effort to introduce some degree of control over what's posted beyond their usual concerns about infringement of Sony's copyright, then they should do it across the board.

So, Start complaining. Kaipaith should get his own appearance removed, offensive comments should be removed, videos of illegal or antisocial driving should be removed. Let's have some consistency.
