May have been done in prev posts, but W4NKR would be novel

Saw something similar in Vienna several years ago on a blue Volvo estate -ANKA on the plate but registered in Vienna so had a W and the flag symbol on the LHS ;)

I also saw UPR1X at Mile End.

Or was it CUE 80Y?

Not sure though...I thought it had 180 in it.Have to recheck in a couple of weeks and I've seen it a million times.;)

Can check tommorow actually if it's about.

CUE 80Y it was - fetaured in the Sunday Times motoring section on a 5 sereis BMW at the time.

Possibly the same article as Steve Parrish's PEN15 on a red Mercedes and related to another ST feature on number plates - a Kent based meat importer and his Triumph Stag with ORG 45M

He was quoted as saying - my wife wont drive it!

My vehicle has the registration Y G08 WHP..which coincidentally, since I changed my name by deep poll, matches my name exactly.

I'm not surprised she won't drive the Stag. Who wants to be sitting at the side of the road in a cloud of steam:biggrin:

I like the ones which try but aren't quite there, either because someone else has got there first or the owner isn't quite as wealthy as he's trying to make out. For instance, I saw a car in the West Midlands once which was covered in Wolverhampton Wanderers stuff - flags, stickers, logos on the numberplate - and had the reg ... W100 VES. Now, that doesn't spell "Wolves" does it? That says "Wiooves".

that just about sums up why you should NOT get a personalised number plate.:blush:

they are one of the worlds mysteries that i just don't understand (and don't want to, shame on you people xx()

Sometimes one's inference is wrong, about what personal plates actually stand for. There used to be a car belonging to someone in our road, with L10 NEG. At first I assumed, he'd tried for L10 NEL and missed out on it, so he got the next-best option (bit like that guy who had to settle for N2 GEL).

But no: that wasn't it, as I learnt later. The bloke was owner of a large poultry farm. What he was trying to spell was "LION EGG".

Talking of deceptive (and illegal) plates, the most outrageous I can remember, was one that once passed me in a dark street and all I could make out was "BOBBY". I figured, it could have been any of:
BOB 8Y
8088 Y
808 BY
80 BBY
Any guesses? I just wonder: suppose the guy had committed some offence and I'd wanted to report him, what would I have told the cops?

What works for me is to use my normal numberplate that came with the car and staple about 20 £100 notes all over the back of the car with a sign saying

"I'm great I am"

It has a similar effect without the hassle of getting a new plate

but if someone tried to sell him a great big yellow sticker with the words "LION EGG" on it, would he stick it on his boot lid ???
