This is possibly the tattiest bike I've ever seen in use. It was padlocked (Yes, padlocked.. in case anyone wished to steal it!!) in Northampton town centre a while ago.....

I never did see the owner, unfortunately.. I was going to ask how they got on with that saddle after a few miles....

I have seen worse. There is a bike at the college in the lockable storage unit that has loads of rust on it. Looks like it has been there for years, and yet it is still locked up. Guess someone must have lost a key or something.

This one is still in use though. It wasn't there when I locked mine up, but was still there when I left. A few hours later, it was gone.

That saddle could be a cunning anti-theft device - perhaps the rider carries a cover with him....

or not!

Whenever I ride through the town I look out for this Sturmey Archer powered beastie.. With dynamo lighting.
I'd love to see who rides it (and ask why!)

Possibly it's to avoid having to lock his/her Koga Kimera against an unpadded metal stanchion!

I've both seen and ridden worse than that, not a lot worse mind, when the kids were small and I had a mortgage I rode bikes brought from the adds in the newspapers or newsagent, brought from the second hand shops or I cobbled a bike together out of spare parts, the important thing is how roadworthy is it? do the important bits work as they should? all the wrecks I rode were in good order, they just looked like wrecks.
