Professional opinion needed...

Hi All, Need a professional opinion here to make a decision on buying a bike...

Three options:

$950 2016 Rocky Mountain Whistler 50

I don't understand the componentry that well (and what is best), so I'm not sure which one represents the best

deal.

The 2015 Whistler 70 seems like an enticing option, as it is only $50 more than the 2016 50, but how much

better of a bike is it? I'm looking to compare and contrast these bikes at their various price points.

Better than the cheap one and similar to the expensive one but cheaper. I can't see much difference with the Whistler 70's that you posted so opt for the cheaper one.

Though it's hard to give advice without knowing what sort of riding you plan on doing i.e. if you're just going to be on the road, you really don't need suspension so there may be cheaper/lighter options available.
