I have just remembered that Mum was glued to Travelling Man. Bunnied on about Leigh Lawson daily.
 
My mum loved Peyton Place. I don't think she missed an episode. After a quick Google I realise that was probably 50 years ago. No wonder I feel old.

I loved all of those :laugh:......are you my son?

I didn't like any of those programmes. However, I could not persuade my mother they were rubbish.

Come to think of it, she always watched Secret Army. I cannot remember if she liked When the Boat Comes In. I think she liked Bouquet of Barbed Wire but I don't think that was such a long running series.

Slightly related, as I was growing up, I used to watch loads of films on TV with Dad that he recommended, I remember sitting there spellbound watching Bonnie and Clyde.
Friday night was eagerly anticipated, we'd sit and watch the Horror Double Bill on BBC2.
An old B&W 1930s classic followed by a slightly more modern film, usually Hammer, making full use of Eastman Colour to splash all that fake blood about
