My father in law can't ride a bike but my mother in law reckons a bit of cycling would do him some good. He doesn't entirely agree.

Psyclist of this parish spotted someone local selling a tricycle so he kindly grabbed it for me. There is a little bit of tidying up to do so I thought I'd keep a record of it in case anyone else finds this thread useful.

Looking good so far!

The rear mudguard / splatter guard has been wrenched off revealing a gap where an electric motor used to be.

Cleaning the chain will be my first job.

For now the trike will have to live on our patio.

Looks really interesting! Looks quite heavy, is that likely to be an issue?

I just had a go at cleaning the chain; I've never seen a chain in such a grim state!

I took out the broken bit of wood from under the fairing mounting but it was helping hold the chainguard away from the chain so I put some rubber shims in their place, which should also help minimise how much this trike rattles.

I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or whether the assembly is badly designed but one of the bolts won't sit straight and the chain still rubs slightly on the guard. I'll fix it somehow though.

The fairing / rear guard is borked so it's going to the tip.

The hub appears to do the breaking, I'll investigate next time I get a chance.
