Went to see Prometheus last night and was a bit disappointed with it to be honest. The behaviour of the characters was pretty illogical in places and they jumped to conclusions so bizzarre it felt as though they'd edited out a reel of the film.

I don't think you could call it a bad film (it is very well made) but it wasn't what I expected.

Anyone else seen it yet? What did you think?

It's all a plot, they'll release the directors cut as a special which will have the extra reel and explain everything!

I was really looking forward to this for months and saw it last Friday.

Great 3d and special effects, but the movie was.......poor:sad:

This is another of those films that I initially got very excited about, I expect like quite a few others I'll be very dissappointed
Think I'll wait for the DVD.

NT and I were thinking of seeing it - assuming now that we can get an end of aisle seat for his plastercast!

In preparation, we've watched the Alien series over the last couple of weeks - I'd never actually seen them.

Well, that was two hours of my life I'll never get back.
I'd read the reviews, and was well aware that the plot was a little shakey, and was also aware that it wasn't directly related to the Alien series.
So, it was with an open mind that I sat down to enjoy the film.

It's not so much that the plot has holes, it's just laughable at how poorly written it is. OK, so it's a sci-fi film, you have to expect a bit of inconsistency, but this is just plain stupid.
The acting is good, the effects are good and it's beautifully filmed but the film as a whole is very, very poor in my opinion.

Arch, I'm not sure that watching the Alien series will really prepare you for this, they are fantastic films and not even in the sights of the train smash that is Prometheus.
H.R Giger allegedly designed some of the set, and although reminiscent of his earlier work, it hasn't got that delicious, sinister darkness that the Alien sets had.
All very disappointing IMO

Sounds like Avatar...
You could say that. The difference though is that Avatar is a ripping yarn and although it's not an original story I enjoyed it and was happy to get a copy on DVD when it came out. With Prometheus I doubt I'll bother.... unless ArDee is right and there is an extra reel which explains what was going on.
