10 days in hospital, it’s a wonder that you survived that. Take care to mend well.
Yes I was in (for 10 weeks, 3 bust vertebrae) despite very good care from the nursing staff I acquired a urinary infection and an allergy to hospital food among other things. They couldn't do surgery and get me out quicker due to the risks so I had to lie prone and wait for things to heal. Other people who had managed only to break a single vertebrae were in, operated on and out in literally a few days. Without Mrs A's daily visits (80 mile round trip) I'd have gone round the bend.
When the great day came and I was allowed to get out bed and stand up, I just swung my legs over the side and stood up albeit unsteadily. Very professional physios and cycling fitness I put it down to.
I have to be fair and say that the care I received was absolutely fantastic! Me and the OH are currently composing a letter to the chief exec to congratulate him on his fantastic team.
I am sure they will appreciate that. I did the same as I think we shouldn't take good health care for granted but some people seem to.
