TFL has opened a consultation on the proposed route for CS5, from New Cross Gate to Victoria (including the infamous Vauxhall Gyratory). I would encourage all who use these roads to review the proposals (www.tfl.gov.uk/cs5) and comment on whichever sections are relevant to them. Helpfully the route is broken down into many small pieces, so you only need comment on those which you use. On my part, I have suggested more early traffic light phases for cyclists (particularly coming off Vauxhall Bridge) as well as physical separation of cyclists and cars in some areas.

I strongly urge everyone to contact them about vauxhall bridge eastbound. Option 2 is the best option.
Option 1 means reduced space on the bridge for motor traffic and will cause conflict if you try to use it. The cycle lane will be too narrow for cyclists to overtake each other. As such making vauxhall bridge pointless.
Option 2 is a shared bus lane on the left, this is the safest and best option for all cyclists imo.

The original promise was for it to run to Lewisham. Traffic flow London bottled it and decided there was no safe way around the New Cross one-way. So, that's fine for cyclists heading further east??? I think the gap between promise and delivery should be questioned.

I find some of this confusing and it's probably my brain fug at the moment but it says that motorcycles and taxis won't be able to use the bus lanes and advanced lights on Vauxhall Bridge but M/C's and Taxis are allowed to use bus lanes everywhere else? If so, won't there be a) confusion, b) bad feeling and c) M/C's and Taxi's just doing what they were doing anyway?

I'm very cynical about these consultations to be honest, the one to re-do Lambeth Bridge closed in October and work was due to begin 'early November 2012', it's 4th December, I cycle over it twice a day and there's not even a hint they're about to do anything there:

Agreed, this is what I went for.

Not all bus lanes are open to cyclists, taxis or motorcyclists. For example the current bus lane on the eastbound section of vauxhall bridge is buses only.

And in my experience PTW users and taxis are quite good at learning where and when they can use these lanes. A £120 fine if they get it wrong is an effective tool here.

I can see why one would be cynical, but at the end of the day looking at it, selecting the options (no need to write comments) and giving some kind of view has to be better than doing nothing? It's not always one gets a chance to input so specifically on choices between how things get done.
