Ah yes, misconceptions....
I was eating a burger once and a colleague turned to me and said...(in a condescending kind of tone)
'I'm surprised you're eating that...I never thought you'd eat stuff like that , you being fit and all that'
'Wha ????...I ride a bike a bit more than most folk ...even so, I'm not averse to a little self abuse once in a while'

I remember when a group of cyclists in club kit would prompt comments from the street such as "What's this, the Milk Race ?". Don't suppose many people remember the Milk Race now. The Soviets in their plain red CCCP jerseys and beautiful red with white panels Colnagos. And having to get off and walk up all those 1 in 4's in Wales.

My first experience of cycle racing was the Milk Race; must have been mid- 70s and possibly a stage between Dundee/Perth and Aberdeen given where I viewed it. I pestered my parents for a "racer" and a few years later (I think I was 10 by then) got a 2nd or 3rd or 4th hand resprayed BSA which was far too big for me, I was still riding it when I was 17 and it fit me by then - loved that bike!

No. You're not really a right-winger at all. You're someone who is desperately trying to cling on to the superficial pretence of right-wingery for the sake of maintaining your self-image, whilst increasingly being forced to come to terms with the fact that your inner self is in fact a left-winger struggling to emerge. You'll get there in [B[the end, given another twenty years[/B]....
The end, twenty years time. What'll we do after the end? Meteor impact or the button pressed?

Why is it that non-cyclists either think I'm this year's favourite for the Tour De France or that I spend half the year on Rainbow Warrior and set out to make car drivers' lives a misery? These misconceptions always make me chuckle.

Hi viz and we'll stick with the Rainbow warrior label.

Well I'm a cyclist with extreme apathetic-wing political views

This is two years out of date, but, if a cyclists party was formed and stood for parliament, with these numbers could we not now be in a coalition with Saint Theresa and the Tory's?^_^
