Publications that accept corrospondence

I'm sure many of us have sent an email or letter to a newspaper or magazine. You read something interesting and want to comment, reflect or correct.

So this week I'm off work and decided I would dedicate some time to sending emails on various things that interest me: politics, transport, etc.. what annoys me is how a publication can put up contact details and thats the limit of the contact: "send it here!", you go through time and effort to write the thing and send it off only to get an email back saying:

"Thankyou for your email. If you have not included your postal address, mobile, daytime and nightime phone numbers then we cannot print. Please resend your corrospondence with those attached!"

The very least you could do it put it ON the contact page BEFOREHAND! Instead it wastes all of our time. And yet again, I fail to see why they would need so much in the way of phone numbers. I wouldnt give that much contact info to my Boss, LOL!

Certainly for newspapers they want details so they can come back to you and clarify anything you have said or find out more information. My husband is a journalist on the local rag and will often contact letter writers who have written in with a potential story to get more info. You can add that your name and address is not for publication and they will print name and address witheld under your letter.
