Does anyone have a view on the wisdom of touring with a Bob Yak pulled by a Cannondale Synapse carbon bike?
Sure I could, perhaps should, continue using a mountain bike with slicks as I have for years now, or buy a road touring bike, but the carbon frames are reported to be very strong and boy are they comfortable and light.

as long as your rideing on smooth tarmac i can't see a problem.going over rough terrain could put a strain on the frame'
btw what slicks are you useing on your mountain bike?

some Shwalbe things.

My concern with light road bikes is that the usual calliper brakes with which they are fitted maybe overwhelmed trying to stop a loaded trailer. Even the V brakes on the mountain bike struggle with arresting the momentum on big downhills.

What's the gearing on the Synapse? You will be carrying hefty loads and you really will need fairly low gears to cope on bigger hills.
