If you can press the tyre with your fingers and squash it a little, you haven't pumped it up hard enough. If you are doing it with a hand pump, not a track pump, I don't think you will manage to over-inflate them. In fact, pumping your tyres up nice and hard will also be good exercise!

Hi Guys Ive had some success, now I know the mechanism of the valve, Ive managed to get the tyres up : ) so went out round the block.
Lots of people have problems when they come up against Presta valves for the first time, then after having pumped up their tyres a few times they wonder why they ever had a problem^_^.
I would second the advice to buy a track pump, definitely the most useful cycling accessory I've ever purchased:smile:.

I couldn't agree more with Snorri's .... I still don't get on 100% with Presta valves to be honest but I have learned to cope with them !
