Hi all. This is my first post here, sorry if its a little vague. I am planning a road cycling holiday in the Pyrenees in 2018. I would like to take in some of the iconic climbs on the French side of the range. Unfortunately I am on a reasonably tight budget. Can anyone provide any information or tips on suitable places to base myself, rides/climbs not to be missed, tips on accommodation (I am quite happy to stay in hostels or shared accommodation) and companies who can provide guided rides, bike hire or mechanical support if required.

Pyrenees are easy to ride self supported with little planning required. If you can camp, the costs are lower. There are campsites in every town and many villages. I took a cheap solo tent and no cooking gear because great food is part of the attraction and many campsites have cafeteria style eateries.
For camping trips, a hub and spoke style of touring is better so you can ride for several days unladen before you might wish to relocate.

Had seen this extensive thread but haven't had a chance to read it through. It seems to relate more to the experience of setting up cycling accommodation? But thanks for the link ☺️

Was intending to ride unladen and not really wanting to camp, but thanks for the response ☺️

Might be over budget but Paddy and Olive at Pyrenees Cycling Lodge have everything: https://pyreneescyclinglodge.com/
We stayed there a couple of years ago and it was great.
Same here. I stayed there from July 4 to 6 this year, and they're still doing a great job there. I plan to revisit them some time, as I have unfinished col business in the Pyrenees. Since you also mentioned bike hire, @Mike1439 , Paddy runs a bike hire shop also. I used one of his hire bikes and it was very nice to ride. Also, my rough estimate is that there's probably about 10 days or more of riding if you're based at the Pyrenees Cycling Lodge, as it's in Saint-Savin, about 5km south of Argeles-Gazost, and surrounded by great climbs.

Thanks. Looks great, but a little over priced. Some quick research lead me to this at €45 per night B&B

And this at €40 per night B&B
