As always I am sure this question has been asked before but I don't hope you don't mind me asking again. I am about to buy 2 continental gatorskin tyres....for best pu***ure protection do I buy the gatorskin hardshell the cheapest site being wiggle and 2 of the said tyre will cost me c £50...or do I buy 2 x continental "ultra" gatorskin from Halfords where 2 tyres will actually cost me only £37.78 (quite a good price) I presume that the hardshell offer the best in p**cture protection but at a premium price...so if p***ture protection is my main concern do I buy the more expensive hardshells?...thanks guys

sorry.. did you say PUNCTURE! I think you mean PUNCTURE, but not sure if you do mean PUNCTURE.

Go on, tilt your head!
I have Hardshells on my bike. I've only had one puncture which was very recently due to a routing fail which led me about a kilometer down a stupidly rough bridleway. It started out as light gravel then turned into proper hard ground with massive chunks of rock/flint sticking out. I was amazed I only punctured once!

ultra gatorskin is the old name for plain gators.

I use the hardshell version and compared the thickness with the plain gators by feel, and couldn't tell the difference. The sidewall felt more robust though.

Reckon you'll be fine with plain gators. As ever, check the tyres every so often and remove embedded glass and you should see many happy miles.

I went with the Hardshells as I'm a heavy rider and wanted stronger sidewalls.
