I'm considering a 2017 Trek Domane 5.
I'm currently riding a Scott carbon bike with 25 cm wheels. I am 72 and looking for a bit more comfort, but still want to do my 30 mile rides.
Can someone tell me if it can take a 28cm tire?
Thanks for helping.
I have a 2018 Domane ALR Rim brake which comfortably takes 28mm tyres, however not with mudguards, it's limited to 25mm there. However it's still a very comfortable bike even with 25mm tyres.
Their website will advise tyre size per model, the Trek Domane AL5 disc "Max tyre size-35c without mudguards, 32c with mudguards", there are other models with '5' in the title so you need to reference the correct one of course. As rule of thumb the most of the disc models come supplied with 32c tyres and the older traditional caliper models were designed for 28c without mudguards, 25c with mudguards
