Wait a minute! I need to create a new account? So how will I view the (never changing) status of my order from my new account? I await my latest e-mail from Alan Gray with baited breath! ;)
Those were my thoughts exactly. You've gotta laugh:laugh:
Though something's up with online bike shops at the moment. I've had two wrong deliveries today from two (usually well behaved) retailers. Must have hit the sherry early;)

Oooh, this is turning into a retro kack bike shop thread.

My personal favourite was a certain Brighton-based ex-supplier of titanium frames. It turned out the frame they were selling me was so light because it was made out of fresh air. Thank Sheldon I'd paid by credit card.

Maggers - I've held off saying this, but I'd be getting my money back. There's no deal worth that amount of aggro.

Sounds like Ribble have gone backwards in terms of their ideas of customer service. They were notorious about maybe 6 years ago, then things picked up, but more recently they've changed their set up, I understand the shop on Watery Lane is closed for a "permanent" refit, and they now operate a smaller shop from the nearby mail order warehouse premises.

Maggers, when you next make contact with them, and they say they're delaying because the front mech or some other tiny item isn't in stock, tell them you'll have one from the next group up the ladder.

Actually just got my order of latex products that I ordered on Saturday from Parker even though I didn't choose the fast service option. Very impressive and there was a returns form included in case of error - which there wasn't.

whoops -just realised this is the Ribble gripe thread not the Parker one:blush:

The tension mounts.....

I've just had an e-mail saying my bike will be with me tomorrow.

So should we start a book on it's arrival? Anyone care to quote some odds?

Good luck Magnatom! I was planning to get a summer bike from Ribble. After reading about your problems I'm having second thoughts. My lbs. can get me any componant that I need within a couple of days.delivered by courier some times. The extra cost of a similar speced bike might be worth the better service? What happens if you have problems that require after sales service?I'll watch this space but I think that I'll be staying local.

The funadmental problem with buying a bike with Ribble is stock levels. The bikebuilder is in no way connected to actual stock. In fact early on in the purchase I wanted to buy wing shaped handlebars. They appeared in stock in the bikebuilder, but it turned out that they didn't have any in stock. In fact they were discontinued.

However, it looks like there have been some major changes to the website. Have they properly linked the stock? Who knows. But if you want a bike within a reasonable time-frame and you are unlucky to chose a component that isn't in stock, then expect to wait (and to be misinformed). Unless things have changed of course....

(P.S. look in the main website. If it is in stock there, it should be in stock for the bikebuilder. That's what they told me anyway....)

They sent me an email today.... 20% off everything - if over £50. They usually 15% off, so I checked a few prices. Looks to me like they increased their usual prices 5% before doing this. I've never has a problem buying components from them, but that sort of "marketing" strategy puts me right off using them in the future.
