Keep us informed with new bike info, or the lack of it. Have you been offered an upgrade as alternative?

I decided a while back not to use Ribble mainly due to the way they advertise. I hate the way they show pictures of, for example, their sportif bike labelled with 'from £899'. However, if you build the bike pictured it comes in at in excess of £2500. This is similar to the way that car makers use pictures of their GTi (or whatever) versions with a 'from the price of the base model' in their adverts, but at least they have to add small print to sat 'actual model pictured is the xyz version with optional metallic paint and alloys and costs 'a lot more'.

Will do. No-one has mentioned anything about an upgrade. I'll just have to wait and see what turns up.....if it turns up. I suppose they have the weather as an excuse....

I share your pain. My shiny new bike is approx 8 miles away from me - but we're snowed in at the moment :wahhey:

Actually I'm not too bad. I'm not sure I would have been out on the bike anyway because of the weather, and the fact that I have a stinking cold at the moment. I am working in between Christmas and New Year so, if the bike arrives, I'm looking forward to working off the Christmas excess on relatively quiet roads. :wahhey:

:ohmy::eek::biggrin::smile:

Apparently my bike has arrived at home (the correct home!) :biggrin:

It'll be later tonight before I get to take a look at it and can confirm what it actually consists of!

What is really annoying (and this isn't Ribble's fault) is the that Parcel Force deliver man only lifted the bike half in the house and left my wife to haul the bike in the rest of the way (bike packaging etc). Normally this wouldn't be a problem for my wife, however she is 8 months pregnant! :biggrin:

it got there-wow - we never thought this would happen. I hope all is well. Bit sh1te of the parcel force guy to leave your pregnant wife to move the box in though.

Indeed. And as Tollers said the box was apparently pretty big. Well at least I know my wife won't be taking the bike out for a test ride! :biggrin:

TBMcG hang on there, I haven't seen the bike yet. There is still the possibility that it's the wrong bike, missing something vital......:smile::smile:

I can also confirm, the box is uneccessarily huge,bigger than a standard bike box...why, why Ribble?

Mags I hope for your sake that the bike is in tip top shape and as you requested!

I never had any doubts.......ribble are fine, but slow. I hope everthing will as you ordered. Look forward to the pics.

They certainly were slow, it took over 5 weeks instead of the quoted 'max of 3 weeks'. However, that isn't my biggest gripe (oh oh, this is merging with the threads on whinging!). It's the fact that they actually gave me a delivery date (and a couple of other suggestions that delivery was imminent) when there was never any chance of them fulfilling the promises.

I can understand delays in delivery, problems with stock etc (although there are ways to reduce the chance of such problems), it's the lack of honesty that really rubs me up the wrong way.

Don't worry about me. Worry for Ribble if I find it isn't pristine! :smile:
