How far is your commute guys and what type of roads are they??? main roads, back roads, cycle paths etc etc

Cause for me its a 26 mile round trip on some main roads and a forest section that would be unlit for about 2miles..........i'm just debating whether to still commute at least once a week during the winter weeks, months lol

Mine is around 22 miles round trip and I do it all year round. All main roads.

By forest section, do you mean a road through a forest or off-road? If it's a road, get some decent lights, some wet weather kit and there's nothing to stop you!

16 miles each way

Almost entirely on unlit country roads...a mile or two in town at the end

I am a coward so would love the option of having a few days off from it in winter but unfortunately there's no buses and I can't drive!

It is doable though. You just need good lights, and a spare set of clothes at work on the off chance you do get soaked/frozen.

13 mile round trip on a mixture of different types of road, I'm lucky in that on this job I don't normally commute until after the rush hour and school mums have finished, this week though I've had a couple of early starts, puting me on the road when they are all getting into school.

Was 9 miles each way up until last week but a change in job that started today means that my daily commute is a mere 3.5 miles each way. It means I can now get up later and I get home 1 hour earlier than before. I suppose it means I'll have to eat healthier to compensate and/or start doing longer rides after work to keep up the mileage.

Mine is about a 34 mile round trip, mainly on major roads. Quite nice, too, as about 14 miles of it is by Port Philip Bay in Melbourne, so the scenery's great (especially in Summer when people wear less...). My "morning" commute is between 5 and 6am to avoid the traffic, so I'll quite often see the Moon set over the Bay in the pre-dawn darkness.

20 miles a day. Canal, park & road.

With the right tyres and clothing, you can do most of the winter months IMO. I whimp out when it is very wet and cold or heavy snow.

Road - shared cycle path - road - bus lane - road: for 13 miles each way. Quite well lit, but the wind off the moors on the uphill way home is a bit of a challenge!

Only been commuting for 5 weeks now, and really rather enjoying it! My route is just over 14 miles each way: go through village on main road then onto unlit cycle-path (old railway line, multi-use path, tree-lined), re-join main road for a few miles (streetlights), then it's cycle-path again (part footpath, part back road past farms all unlit), with a final bit on road again.

I hope to continue commuting through the winter but my wife has other ideas.... Still debating what lights I'll need for the unlit sections that form most of the route, but at least having bought LIDL's bib longs I think I'm sorted for keeping warm
