Usually when i buy a bag of broth mix, it needs soaking for a good 12 hours or so. The only bag i found in town today was 'quick cook', which despite looking exactly the same as the 'long soak' stuff, only needs a 15 minute simmer.

What's the difference between this broth mix and that broth mix?

aliens?

Probably already soaked and part cooked, then vacuum packed?
Like the "2 minutes in the micro" rice/grains you can buy from the ambient shelves.
Was the price of the quick broth mix treble compared to the non quick stuff?
If yes, there's your answer.
Did you buy it in Aldi's?
Pics?
Could be convenient for singletons like me ^_^

Pre-soaked and par boiled (e.g quick cook rice) is more convenient but I hate the flavor. If you like it though, then all good. Some cereals and pulses need soaking to get rid of toxins, others just so they hydrate quicker
